Chris GuerreroThe 2015 award recipient from the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office is Chris Guerrero, who is a Dispatcher IV.

Chris began his career with the Sanger Police Department as a dispatcher.  After two years there, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office hired him in August 2010 when Fresno County took over Sanger’s dispatching services. Chris quickly established himself as a valuable employee and began to move up the ranks. He was selected to become a Tactical Dispatcher in April 2013, working under the SWAT umbrella assigned to the Crisis Negotiations Team (CNT).  In November 2013, he was promoted to Communications Specialist where he assisted in the training of new dispatchers.

Chris is a graduate of Fresno State who earned a BA in Mass Communications and Journalism.  He has shown his dedication to the department and his profession by volunteering to work overtime, helping with the Red E. Fox program, volunteering for job fairs and most recently, joining the CCUG (California CLETS Users Group).  Chris has shown an interest in becoming a certified instructor to teach entry level dispatchers and those interested in becoming dispatchers.   In his time away from work, Chris enjoys spending time with family and friends.

On Saturday, April 18, 2015, Chris will be recognized during the Public Safety Communications Association annual dispatch banquet.  It takes place at Pioneer Village located at 1880 Art Gonzalez Parkway in Selma.  The Selma Police Department is hosting this event which begins at 6:30 pm.  The P.S.C.A. was formed in 1991 to serve the Counties of Fresno, Madera, Merced, Mariposa, Kings and Tulare.  Each year, local agencies come together and honor their “Dispatcher of the Year”, a person selected by their peers to receive the honor.

Saturday’s event will culminate National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, which runs April 12th – 18th.
