You may have received text messages posing as the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), which claim you have unpaid tolls.
Hopefully you have learned this is a scam.
Now, con artists have a new one they hope you will fall for. The text message says you have unpaid traffic violations.
THESE MESSAGES ARE NOT REAL!
We have recently seen a spike in people showing up to traffic court in Fresno to try and clear up the matter. This is clearly a scare tactic that attempts to take your money and ultimately wastes your time.
Understand, the DMV will never send a text message to ask for personal or financial information. If you receive one, do not click on the link or reply to it. Instead, ignore and delete it.
