Employee Compliments

Personnel Complaints

Personnel complaints include any allegation of misconduct or improper job performance that, if true, would constitute a violation of office policy or of federal, state or local law, policy or rule. Personnel complaints may be generated internally or by the public.  Personnel complaints may be classified as informal or formal.

Informal Complaints and General Inquiries

Informal complaints can generally be handled by the employee’s immediate supervisor.  Inquiries about conduct or performance that, if true, would not violate office policy or federal, state or local law, policy or rule may be handled informally by a supervisor and shall not be considered a personnel complaint. Such inquiries generally include clarification regarding policy, procedures or the response to specific incidents by the Office.  To make an informal complaint, or for general inquiries or clarification regarding the response to a specific incident, please contact Sheriff’s Dispatch (559) 600-3111 to be referred to the appropriate supervisor.

Formal Complaints

A formal complaint of misconduct by Sheriff’s Office personnel can be made by submitting the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office Citizen Complaint Form. You may mail or turn in the form to the Internal Affairs Unit at the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office Headquarters, 2200 Fresno Street, Fresno, CA 93721.  The Internal Affairs Unit will also accept scanned copies of the form emailed to: This email address is being protected from spambots. If you need assistance completing a complaint form, you may call the Internal Affairs Unit at (559) 600-8031 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on weekdays (exception of County Holidays).
