Around 4:30 pm on Tuesday, January 10th, 2023, Fresno County Sheriff’s dispatchers took a call regarding a person found to be lying on the side of the road near a grape vineyard. Deputies responded to the location on S. Orange Ave, midway between Manning and Dinuba Avenues in Fresno. There they located a woman, later identified as 31 year old Brittany Degrise, who was determined to be deceased. Evidence showed her injuries to be consistent with a homicide.
During the course of the investigation, detectives determined Degrise was estranged from her family and a transient in the city of Fresno. Degrise was known to frequent the area of Tulare and First Streets in the city of Fresno. Detectives have since spoken with people who knew Brittany, but after one year investigating, they have been unable to identify the person(s) responsible for her death.
