Thursday morning, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue (SAR) team began an operation to search for 34 year old Pedro Perez of Fresno, who had not been seen since the night of February 28th.

3/14/23 - Effective immediately, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office is closing the Kings River from Pine Flat Dam to the Tulare and Kings County lines.

The man shot and killed in Del Rey has been identified as 55 year old Ruben Ramirez of Parlier.

Continuous snow melt is putting a strain on lakes, rivers and streams this spring and summer. Communities along the Kings and San Joaquin Rivers are at most risk for flooding. The Sheriff's Office encourages community members to report emergencies and other hazardous situations immediately by dialing 911 or (559) 600-3111.

A severe winter storm delivering rain and snow is expected to move into our region the week of March 6th - 12th.  As a proactive measure, the Fresno County Sheriff's is issuing evacuation warnings to its residents living in the foothills and mountains.
 
A real-time Evacuation Zones Map is available for residents to enter an address to see the current instructions for an area. These areas are listed under three headings: Evacuate (red), warning (yellow) and no evacuation (green).

During a warning, residents are encouraged to begin gathering belongings and be prepared for an evacuation order.
 
If you are ordered to evacuate, follow these guidelines.

Remain calm

• Follow instructions from Deputy Sheriff's and Fire Officers.
• Turn off all appliances.
• Close doors and windows.
• Lock your house.
• Stay clear of emergency vehicles.

What to take

• Keys
• Pets
• Photos
• Personal electronics (computer, cell phone, tablet)
• Medications and eye glasses
• Valuable papers (including something with your physical address printed for re-entry)

When You're Safe

• Call your relatives after evacuation.
• Necessary support, resources and subsistence will be provided at the shelters designated for evacuation.

Around 7:30 pm on Friday, March 3rd, Orange Cove Police officers were dispatched to a call of shots near the intersection of J and 10th Streets.

The FCSO is notifying the public of the 2023 Off Highway Motor Vehicle grant application, which runs from March 7, 2023 through May 8, 2023.  It is now open for public comment.

A 19 year old woman who suffered a gunshot wound is in the hospital, listed in critical condition.

The Fresno County Office of Emergency Services is working with the Red Cross to open a shelter to assist residents of Dunlap, Miramonte, and Squaw Valley, who have been without power or running water since Saturday, February 25th.
