Temporary Office Closure Of Area 3 And Area 4 Substations

The Fresno County Sheriff’s Area 3 substation located at 1055 S. Golden State in Selma, and the Area 4 substation located at 33155 Auberry Road in the town of Auberry will both be closed the week of November 23rd to the 29th, and will re-open on Monday, November 30th.

Vehicle releases during the closure week can be obtained from the Area 2 substation located at 5717 E. Shields Ave in the City of Fresno, as well as the Sheriff’s Office main headquarters at 2200 Fresno St. Office hours are from 8:00am to 4:00pm.

The Area 2 phone number is 292-1104. The Sheriff’s Office main headquarters phone number is 488-3939.

Patrol operations and patrol response will continue as usual.

Burglary Suspect Sought

Fresno County Sheriff’s detectives are asking for the public’s help in locating a Del Rey man in connection with a residential burglary that occurred last month. Wanted is 30 year old Juan Daniel Rangel.

The investigation began on the night of October 25th when deputies responded to a burglary call at a residence located in the 6000 block of E Montecito. The victim reported that her home had burglarized some time over the two days prior while she was out of town.

The suspects stole just under $3000.00 worth of property including stereo and computer equipment.

Detectives later identified Rangel as being responsible for the burglary. He is described as being Hispanic, 5-7/ 145 pounds with brown hair and black eyes.

One Arrested, Another Wanted In Orange Cove Home Invasion Robbery

Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims today announced the arrest of an Orange Cove man, and is asking for the public’s help in locating a second, wanted in connection with a home invasion robbery that occurred this past Friday. Arrested was 27 year old Richard Michael Lopez. Wanted is 33 year old Jason Romero.

During the early morning hours this past Friday, deputies responded to an apartment located in the 500 block of Center St regarding the robbery.

The two victims reported that they had been awakened by Lopez and Romero who had broken into their apartment. While stealing money and other items, the suspects attacked one of the victims with a crowbar and knife. The victim was later treated at Sierra Kings Hospital for non-life threatening stab wounds. After the suspects fled, the victims were able to get to a neighbor’s apartment to call the Sheriff’s Office.

During the investigation, detectives determined that Lopez and Romero were responsible for the robbery and assault, and that both were self admitted street gang members.

While detectives continued to investigate, deputies from the Sheriff’s Community Crime Response Team responded to assist in the search for the suspects. Shortly before 6:00pm, CCRT deputies arrested Lopez during a vehicle stop near the intersection of 6th & “C” St. He was taken into custody without incident and later transported to the Fresno County Jail where he was booked on charges of home invasion robbery.

Romero, a wanted parolee, goes by the street name “Happy”. He is described as being Hispanic, 5-8/ 195 pounds with brown hair (shaved) and black eyes. He is wanted on charges of home invasion robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, and participating in a street gang. He is also being sought on an outstanding arrest warrant in connection with a separate burglary in Tulare County, and parole violations.
