Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims today announced the arrest of a Fresno man wanted in connection the armed robbery of a Malaga market. Arrested was 22 year old Miguel Angel Solorio.
Early yesterday evening, shortly after 6:00pm, deputies responded to the Tareb Market located at 3145 E Olney Ave regarding an armed robbery that had just occurred.
The store clerk reported a Hispanic male had entered the store, produced a handgun and demanded the money from the cash register. Fearing she would be shot if she didn’t comply, the store clerk gave the suspect several hundred dollars that was in the register. The subject then fled on foot and was last seen near the intersection of Olney & Ward.
Witnesses reported seeing the suspect, later identified as Solorio, run from the store and get into a white Ford Mustang. The vehicle was last seen northbound on Freeway 99 from Central. However, before it left the area, witnesses were able to get the license plate and give it to deputies.
A short time later, CHP officers spotted the vehicle on Belmont Ave near First St. The vehicle was stopped and Solorio detained.
During the ensuing investigation, Solorio was positively identified as the suspect in the armed robbery. Evidence located at the scene also tied Solorio to the robbery.
Solorio was arrested on charges of armed robbery and later booked into the Fresno County Jail.
