2/15/17 - The Coroner’s Office has released the name of Tuesday’s homicide victim. She is Outi Hicks, 32, of Fresno.
2/14/17 - At 1:00 pm Tuesday, Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched a fight happening on the grounds of a power plant located on the 3300 block of S. Willow Ave. in Fresno.
The victim, a woman, and the suspect, 28 year old Aaron Lopez of Fresno, were at the facility working on a project. The two were employees of an outside contracted company, not affiliated with the power plant. Lopez and woman had worked together the first part of the day without any problems. However, after lunch, something occurred between the two which resulted in Lopez hitting the woman with an object. She was injured to the point to where she fell to the ground and became unconscious. Workers saw the woman in trouble and tried to help her. Some performed CPR, while others detained the suspect. An ambulance arrived and medics continued CPR, but the woman passed away. Deputies arrived on scene and arrested Lopez.
Detectives and members of the Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit responded to collect evidence and interview witnesses. Detectives have booked Aaron Lopez into the Fresno County Jail on a charge of murder.
The identity of the victim is not available. The Coroner’s Office are scheduling an autopsy to determine her exact cause of death.
This marks the third homicide of 2017 in Fresno County.
