Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested 34 year old Paul Flores of Porterville.  He faces felony charges for stalking and making criminal threats.

Around 8:30 am on Thursday, Fresno County Sheriff’s dispatchers received a report that a woman in Fresno had received threatening text messages and phone calls from her ex-boyfriend named Paul Flores.  Deputies began to investigate the threat and learned Flores was from Porterville and drove a 2004 Toyota Corolla.  They also learned that Flores had access to firearms.

Around 9:15 am, the victim reported getting another message from Flores in which he said he would go after her son at Clovis High School and shoot up the school.  The Sheriff’s Office quickly notified Clovis Unified School District and Clovis Police.  The school was immediately placed on lockdown as a precaution.  During this time it was determined that the student Flores might target was not at the school.

A “Be on the Lookout” (BOLO) was issued to all local law enforcement agencies.  It was noted that Flores may be heading north from Tulare County.  With the help of the California Highway Patrol’s helicopter, H40, Flores’ vehicle was spotted driving into the city of Fresno.  At 10:45 am, sheriff’s deputies, CHP officers and Fresno Police officers were guided to the area of E. Dennett and N. Echo Avenues in Fresno.  They were able to make a traffic stop and detain the man driving, later confirmed to be Paul Flores.  Deputies searched Flores’ car and did not find any guns.  Detectives took custody of Flores for further questioning.  Clovis High School was notified of this development and administrators lifted the lockdown.
