Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies today arrested a local attorney after he refused to comply with security protocol to enter the courthouse, started a disturbance, and refused to leave. Arrested was 57 year old Harry Marshall Drandell of Fresno.
The incident began this morning shortly after 10:00am when Drandell entered the main courthouse. When asked, Drandell refused to allow his personal property, specifically his wallet, to be scanned upon entering. Deputies explained to Drandell that he would not be allowed to enter the courthouse should he not allow the items to be checked.
Drandell then became angry and started a verbal disturbance. When it was apparent he was not going to calm down, he was ordered to leave the building. Drandell refused to leave the courthouse whereupon deputies ordered him several more times to leave. When he continued to refuse, deputies attempted to escort him out of the building. Drandell resisted and a struggle ensued resulting in his arrest.
Drandell was then transported to the Fresno County Jail where he was booked on charges of trespass in a public building when directed to leave by law enforcement, and resisting arrest.
Hours later, after being released from the jail, Drandell arrived at the courthouse once more. This time, Drandell complied with the security protocols and was allowed to enter the courthouse without incident.
