Members of the Fresno County Sheriff’s Homicide Unit and Fresno County District Attorney’s Office are conducting an investigation into the death of an inmate at the Fresno County Jail.

Around 3:15 am on Wednesday, November 14th, Fresno County Sheriff’s correctional officers were distributing meals to inmates in a pod of the North Annex Jail when they noticed one inmate lying on his bed, unresponsive.  Officers began to give CPR to the man, 26 year old Daniel Weaver.  Medical staff responded and also provided aid while an ambulance was dispatched to respond to the jail.  EMS personnel arrived and transported Weaver to Community Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.

Fresno Police officers booked Weaver into the Fresno County Jail on October 21, 2018.  The Fresno man was in custody for warrants related to misdemeanor charges of drug possession and violating a domestic violence protective order.

This remains an ongoing investigation.  An autopsy has been scheduled and a cause of death should be known following the results of toxicology tests.
