The Fresno County Sheriff's Office today announced the arrest this morning of four people in connection with several armed robbery investigations. Arrested were 27-year-old Johnny Alberto Lopez of Fresno, 21-year-old Audriana Alvarez Mata of Sanger, 19-year-old Francisco Javier Villa, and 22-year-old Paula Felecia Villa, both of Parlier.
This morning, shortly after 5:00am, the Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from the victims of an attempted armed robbery.
The caller reported that she and her husband had been driving on Huntsman near Kings River Rd when they were cut off by another vehicle and forced to stop. One of the occupants got out and started running towards their car. Feeling they were about to be robbed or carjacked, the victims drove around the suspects and fled at a high rate of speed.
The vehicle chased after them and again forced them to stop near Smith and Rose. The victims were able to get around the suspect vehicle again and drove directly to Kingsburg PD.
The suspect's vehicle was last seen driving westbound on Mountain View from Zediker. It was described as a dark grey, four door sedan, California license 6TLN920. Deputies learned the vehicle had also been involved in two other attempted armed robberies in the City of Reedley, and a home invasion robbery near the City of Sanger, starting at 4:30am. A broadcast of the suspect vehicle was put out to all local law enforcement.
A short time later, Sanger PD units located the vehicle driving in the area of Hwy 180 and Fairbanks. The vehicle was stopped and all four suspects were taken into custody without incident.
The subsequent investigation has linked the suspects to several robberies in Fresno County, and the Cities of Reedley, Sanger, Dinuba, and Selma. Sheriff's detectives are working closely with investigators from those agencies.
In five of the robberies, victims were stabbed by one of the suspects. In one of the robberies, the victim was pistol whipped. Only two of the stabbing victims required medical attention at a hospital. The others were treated at the scene and released.
The four suspects will be booked into the Fresno County Jail on one count of home invasion robbery, two counts of attempt robbery, and several counts of robbery.
