Just before 11:30 am on Saturday, the Fresno County Sheriff's Office received a call of two men working on a ranch in Cantua Creek (Derrick & Harlan Avenues) who were pinned under a large piece of machinery. Deputies, EMS and Cal Fire arrived and determined both men were deceased.

Deputies learned that an almond shaker machine stopped working so a mechanic and the machine operator tried to repair it.

One of the men crawled under the machine and disconnected the hydraulic hoses for the shaker arm, however, they did not set the arm down on the ground ahead of time. When the hoses were disconnected, the arm fell, crushing both men.

The victims are a mechanic, 66 year old Arnold Torres of Lemoore and a machine operator, 31 year old Angel Barajas of Cantua Creek.

Cal Osha is now handling the investigation.
