The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office today announced the arrest of two men, and is looking for a third, in connection with several telephone wire thefts in recent months. Arrested were 41 year old Jeffrey Fyfe of Fresno and 22 year old Jared “Jed” Phillips of Armona. A third suspect, 26 year old Geoffrey William Guess of Fresno, is still being sought.
Yesterday morning, shortly before 12:30am, detectives from the Ag Task Force received information from a local farmer of two subject’s possibly burning wire in an almond orchard near Cornelia & Kamm. Believing it was possibly related to several recent telephone wire thefts, detectives immediately responded.
As detectives responded, the farmer called back and reported he was now following the suspects who were leaving in a white Ford pick-up truck.
Detectives caught up to the truck which was now traveling at a high rate of speed. As the truck tried to turn onto Huntsman from Cornelia, the driver lost control and crashed into a nearby vineyard. Both occupants, Fyfe and Phillips, were immediately detained.
