Support Your Local Sheriff -- Walk Like MADD

Walk Like MADD 2014

Dear Central Valley Supporter,

Let me begin by thanking you for taking the time to read this, and your consideration in helping us continue the fight to eliminate drunk driving and saving lives.

Did you know...

  • On average, one in three people will be involved in a drunk driving crash in their lifetime;
  • Every 53 minutes, a person is killed in a drunk driving crash;
  • Every day in America, another 30 people die as a result of drunk driving crashes;
  • In 2012, 802 people in California died due to drunk driving crashes.

These are state and national statistics. However, in recent months, Fresno County has had several high profile deaths due to drunk driving, including several children.

On Saturday, October 18th, MADD Central Valley will launch its 5th annual signature walk event on the Fresno State Campus. Walk Like MADD (WLM) is a non-competitive 5k Walk, and, once again, we anticipate as many as 800 participants at this year's event. We count on registrations and donations from walkers, corporate teams, and sponsorships to support this event. All donations support the free services and programs provided by MADD.

This year, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, along with other law enforcement agencies throughout the Central Valley, will be competing to see who can raise the most money. As Honorary Chairperson for the 2014 “Walk Like MADD” event, I would greatly appreciate any donation that you are able to give. The winning agency will receive a trophy as well as recognition by neighboring departments as the top fundraiser.

Locally, law enforcement works closely with MADD in the fight against drunk driving. They are an advocacy group for the agencies and the District Attorney’s Office, and is always there to help.

Thank you again for your consideration. I invite you to donate to the Fresno Sheriff’s Team online or form your own team at walklikemadd.org/fresno.
