The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office today announced the arrest of a Fresno man in connection with a shooting incident earlier this afternoon.  Arrested was 20 year old Richard Chase Douglass.

Earlier today, shortly after 2:00pm, deputies responded to a residence located in the 1500 block of N Milburn regarding a shots fired call.  While en route to the call, Sheriff’s dispatcher’s received several other calls regarding shots being fired from vehicles in the same general area.

When they arrived at the residence, deputies found several hysterical victims, including a ten year old boy.  None of the victims were injured during the incident.

The suspect vehicle, a dark gray colored Hyundai, was located within minutes parked in front of a residence in the 4000 block of W Olive Ave.  Douglass, who was standing near the vehicle, was immediately detained.

The investigation revealed a short time before the shooting, Douglass and at least two other subjects were involved in a disturbance with the victims at the Cheaper Gas convenience store located on the northwest corner of Olive & Marks.  As the victims attempted to drive away, their vehicle struck Douglass’ vehicle which was parked in the lot.

Douglass and the other suspects drove after the victims westbound on Olive Ave.  During the chase, gunshots were fired from Douglass’ vehicle.  The chase ended when the victims arrived at the N Milburn address where shots were fired at the house.

Assisted by MAGEC units, deputies conducted a search of Douglass’ residence.  Several guns were discovered including five rifles and five handguns.

Douglass was booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of assault with a deadly weapon (firearm), shooting into an inhabited dwelling, and exhibiting a firearm in a threatening manner.

The investigation is ongoing.  Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 600-3111, or CrimeStoppers at 498-STOP(7867).
