Man Struck By Lightning

A 54 year old Fowler man was reportedly struck by lightning at a residence while deputies were handling a civil call at the same location.

Shortly after 6:00 pm, deputies arrived at the residence located in the 6000 block of S Fowler Ave regarding a civil standby call.

As deputies were handling the call, they heard a loud crashing sound close by. Moments later, other residents advised that a subject had been struck by lightning on the other side of the residence.

Deputies responded to the victim and found him to be conscious but disoriented, and complaining of pain in his neck and head. The victim also smelled as if he had been burned.

The victim stated he had been changing the battery on a motorhome when the lightning struck.

Emergency Medical Services responded and transported the victim to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment. His condition is unknown but he was expected to survive.
