The Fresno County Sheriff's Office today announced the arrest of an 18-year-old Clovis man in connection with the stabbing and armed robbery of a Clovis juvenile. Arrested was Jeremie Pat Barnick of Clovis.
This past Saturday night, shortly after 8 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the McDonalds Restaurant located at Ashlan and Clovis regarding a stabbing call.
While en route to the call, deputies were advised a witness to the stabbing was following the suspect who was on foot.
The victim reported he was sitting on the curb outside the restaurant using his cell phone when he was approached by Barnick. Barnick stabbed the victim in the back as he grabbed the cell phone and then fled on foot.
Assisted by Clovis PD officers, deputies located Barnick in the area of Sussex and Manilla, where he was detained. Deputies discovered blood on Barnick's clothing, and he was still in possession of the stolen cell phone. Barnick was positively identified as the subject who had committed the robbery and stabbing.
Barnick was later transported to the Fresno County Jail where he was booked on charges of armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.
The juvenile, whose wound was non-life threatening, was transported to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment. His condition is unknown at this time.
