The Fresno County Sheriff's Office offers a variety of free services through the Crime Prevention Unit. Listed here is a sample of services provided by Community Service Officers to the citizens of Fresno County:

Citizen's Advisory Groups
Citizen Advisory Groups, composed of a cross-section of the community members, will be created to optimize positive contact between the Sheriff’s Department and communities we serve.
 
Citizens' Patrol
Neighborhood Watch Citizens’ patrol groups are designed to further the partnership between the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department and the community it serves.
 
Explorer Program
Since 1966, the Fresno County Sheriff's Office has had an Explorer Program. The primary goal of this program is to provide familiarization and training for young men and women that have an interest in law enforcement.
 
Neighborhood Watch
Community crime prevention addresses real problems while it revives civic energy and community spirit. It is most effective when it mobilizes the skills and resources of committed residents and organizations.  
 
Operation Identification
Operation Identification, or Operation I.D., is a theft prevention/property identification program for use in homes and businesses.  
 
Operation Safe Streets
Operation Safe Streets (OSS) teams work full time in a partnership with citizens of the community. The teams and their citizen partners share the responsibility for crime control in those communities.
 
Sheriff’s Activity League
S.A.L. is a youth program that is sponsored, organized and run by the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department.  
 
COPS in Schools
Cops in Schools was implemented in Fresno County in the Fall of 1999. This was facilitated through a grant from the Department of Justice "Community Oriented Policing Services".
