Citizen Advisory Group

The Citizen Advisory Group is composed of a cross section of community members who come together on an as needed basis to listen to the Sheriff and offer advice and opinions on current events within the Sheriff’s Office. The group was created by Sheriff Mims to help give her deeper insight into various neighborhoods and communities in Fresno County, and also allows a forum for those neighborhoods and communities to be heard. Additionally, the committee provides a forum for future ideas and information exchange so that the members of the Sheriff’s Office can deliver a better quality public safety services to the public we serve.

The members are selected by the Sheriff or referred to her by her contacts in the community. The group meets 2-3 times a year in an informal setting, without notes, cameras or recording devices, so that the Sheriff and the community members can speak directly and honestly without fear of words being taken out of context. This setting creates an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect, and allows for creativity in thinking and ideas.

The goal of the Citizen Advisory Group is to work with the Sheriff to reduce crime and the fear of crime and to improve the quality of life within the communities we serve.
